This is best answered by our purpose. (1) to create a spirit of good will and friendliness; (2) to promote, produce, and stage a balloon festival as shall appeal to the community which shall attract guests and visitors thereto.
Hot Air Ballooning
No this is only a spectator sport. The pilots are sponsored by local Monroe Businesses and fly competition during the weekend. Do check out the Balloon Glow FAQ below though to see how you can get an up-close (and quite spectacular) view of the balloons and meet with pilots and crews.
For those interested in balloon rides generally, we encourage you to contact the
Wisconsin Balloon Group.
Well, it's just one of the most impressive spectacles you may ever witness. Each evening of the rally (weather permitting) balloon pilots fire up their balloons (tethered in the center of the fairgrounds) and the audience is allowed to walk in and around them as they glow brightly against the dusky sky. It's difficult to do justice to the scene without an image so here you go (though even a photo can't do it justice -- you'll just have to come and see it for yourself).

Boy Scout Troop 101 will be lighting up the Hot Air Balloon Glows on Fri-Sat, June 17-18 and they will be distributing glow necklaces at the Monroe Rally.
Approximately the same number of balloons we have been hosting each year since 2007, that number is 15.
